Dealing With Chronic Yeast Infection

Chronic yeast infection is the annoying health condition that affects most of the population at one point in their lives. It is more common in women but men can suffer from the problem and even children to some extent. Chronic yeast infection is caused by the fungi Candida Albicans. Certain conditions cause it to grow rapidly inside or outside the body. This is a yeast infection. When the condition reoccurs frequently over the space of a few months or years it can be termed chronic. Yeast infections can be range from painful to mildly irritating. When they become chronic they need to be treated. This article covers all the required information about the chronic yeast infection to give you a better understanding.

The symptoms of chronic yeast infections are itching, vaginal discharge, and a burning sensation, which might occur more than four times a year. These symptoms are considered to be the indication of irritant vulvitis, so it is highly important to diagnosis and confirm the recurrent yeast infection.

The diagnosis is done on the wet preparation of the vagina or on the growing yeast of the vagina. The diagnosis should be repeated on the recurrent yeast infections, or else the condition cannot be even treated with anti-yeast treatment. The chemicals that cause chronic yeast infections are sodium lauryl sulfate, propylene glycol, methylparaben, cetyl alcohol, and fragrance, which are normally present in bubble baths, soaps, lubricants, douches, and cream.

The disease Diabetes or high blood glucose levels are a main reason for chronic yeast infection as sugar encourages the development of the fungus. One of the more effective treatments for chronic yeast infection is butoconazole, and also boric acid vaginal suppositories are effective against Candida Albicans.

Weekly treatments with terconazole vaginal cream also effectively treat the chronic yeast infection. Another good remedy is the use of yogurt on the affected area, and this method reduces the infection to a certain extent.

There are several other body care and lifestyle changes to prevent this irritation and to stop the yeast development. For instance, stop wearing tight jeans and pantyhose, as these arrest the moisture content in the perineum, and use loose, cotton underclothing to absorb the body moisture.

After workouts and other heavy activities such as jogging, completely air dry the whole body to avoid the secondary yeast infection. After bowel movement and urination, clean the vaginal area completely to prevent the infection in the vagina and any other skin infection.

Follow a balanced low carbohydrate diet to minimize the amount of sugars that get into the blood stream. This can suppress the outgrowth of the Candida fungi and stop chronic yeast infection. Restrict the usage of steroids, oral contraceptives, and antibiotics unless it is really necessary.
