How Can I Tell if I Have a Candida Overgrowth ?
Depending where the Candida has spread, you could face all kinds of different symptoms.
Yeast infections are the most common symptom of a Candida overgrowth. Yeast infections or thrush can affect the skin, mouth and any other part of the body, and can cause redness, burning, and itching. These obvious symptoms are not the only thing to look out for, since not everyone even develops skin problems with an overgrowth.
If your Candida overgrowth originates from the intestines you can expect some discomfort from indigestion, gas, and bloating. Once an overgrowth in the intestines gains strength, and can cause other internal problems with the intestines and even spor into the blood stream, and spread the infection to other parts of the body.
When the yeast changes into it’s more dangerous form of Candidiasis, toxins can be released affected mood swings, and cause trouble concentrating, feelings of depression, anxiety and memory loss.
You may also become sensitive to perfume, tobacco smoke and petrol, or develop allergies.
Unexplainable weight loss or gain can also be attributed a Candida overgrowth, and change in diet is needed to assist in controlling this problem.
Bad breath or halitosis can be a more serious problem, since it can affect you both physically and mentally, this can be attributed to an infection of the tongue, but also an intestinal infection.
With so many warning signs, Candida can very rarely be accused without further tests from your doctor. However a simple home test can tell if you are likely to have Candida or not.
When you wake up in the morning spit into a clean clear glass of water, make sure to do this before anything else, first thing before you eat or brush your teeth. Leave it for up to half an hour, and if within that time the saliva sinks to the bottom, or it develops stings down to the bottom or the water turns cloudy, then you most likely have Candida, healthy saliva will sit on top of the water.
This test is fairly accurate but not perfect, you can also do a simple questionnaire that will tell you the likelihood of a Candida related problem. The questionnaire is to long to list here, but a simple search on Google will reveal the questionnaire for you.
